Carol Jean (Uhl) Herndon
June 9, 1962 - February 16, 2026
With deep sorrow and loving remembrance, we announce the passing of Carol (Uhl) Herndon, who entered into eternal rest on February 16, 2026, after a long and courageous journey.
Born on June 9,1962, in Wellsville, New York, Carol was the beloved daughter of Henry Uhl and Dorothy (Walton) Uhl. She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents, Elizabeth (Franz) Uhl and Adam Uhl, and Alice (Palmer) Walton and Xenophon Pendleton Walton; and her brother, James (Uhl) Walton.
Carol is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Bob Uhl and Deanna (Lewis) Uhl; her sister, Sharon (Uhl) Schaefer; her nephews, Blake Schaefer and Mitch Schaefer; her nieces, Chloe Schaefer and Shanna Walton; her great-nephew, Wesson Reynolds; and her former husband, Clint Herndon, who faithfully served as her devoted caregiver for the past eight years. She also leaves behind her two dogs, Gracie and Annie, who were a constant source of comfort and companionship and whom she adored dearly.
Carol dedicated her professional life to serving others. From 2006 to 2016, she lovingly taught Special Education elementary students at Spring Place Elementary School in Chatsworth, Georgia. Her patience, compassion, and commitment left a lasting impact on her students and colleagues alike.
A woman of deep and abiding faith, Carol lived her life in devotion to God and in service to others. Even through many years of physical hardship, she carried herself with grace and quiet strength. She loved to write, cook, sing, and share her special gift of loving others. Her gentle spirit and caring heart touched countless lives.
A verse that beautifully reflects Carol's life is Romans 12:10 (NIV): "Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves."
After enduring many years of suffering with remarkable resilience, Carol is now at peace and awaiting the Second Coming of Christ. While her absence leaves an immeasurable void, her love, faith, and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Calhoun Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Calhoun, Georgia, at a later date. Service details will be shared when available.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Childhood Arthritis and Rheumatology Research Alliance (CARRA) at carragroup.org.
She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
